12. Recommendations
 
  1. Ongoing sentinel surveillance network to monitor both drug and insecticide resistance for evidence-based policy decision making;
  2. Ongoing development of a Malaria Information System (MIS) to allow effective and appropriated data flow to the control departments and the tourism and public sectors;
  3. Research into the effects of malaria on development of communities, business, industry and tourism;
  4. Research into the long-term benefit and sustainability of insecticide treated bed nets in terms of efficiency and community acceptance;
  5. Increased and ongoing capacity development at both National and Provincial level;
  6. Increased collaboration between the research and control communities;
  7. Regional approach to malaria control to facilitate regional policies in regard to anti-malarial drugs and insecticides;
  8. Regional mechanisms of information flow between SADC countries.
