Trуcaire produces the annual Development Review, the only annual Irish peer-reviewed journal dedicated to policy analysis and research findings on development issues. The journal is multi-disciplinary, containing articles on economic, social and political themes related to poverty in the developing world. A particular focus is the impact that aid, trade, financial and other policies adopted by the industrialised countries have on developing countries. Submissions are now requested for Development Review 2005. These contributions should focus pertinent issues in the field of development studies and international relations, with particular reference to the impact of Irish policy and NGO action in the developing world. A particular focus of the Development Review 2005 will be "Responsibilities of Northern countries in meeting the Millennium Development Goals". Short comments and notes on country-specific issues are also welcome. A list of books for review is also available on request.

Draft abstracts for consideration should be submitted by 31st August 2004. Full papers should be received no later than 29th October 2004 (papers will be considered regardless of whether abstracts were received).

Notes for Contributors

Style
Articles, while analytical, should not be overly technical. The Review enjoys a broad readership amongst policy-makers, NGO professionals and the academic community and all articles must be accessible to this audience. The use of graphs and other complex figures is to be avoided if at all possible.

Length
Manuscripts may be submitted as a main article on the journal theme, a discussion piece, research note or review article. The approximate length required for main articles is 5,000-7,000 words (including footnotes), for discussion pieces and research notes 3,000 words, and for review articles 800-1,500 words. Review articles should discuss one or two recently published books, analyse a recent report or conference. If you would like to suggest a book for review, please contact the address below.

Submission procedure
Papers should be submitted electronically as a WORD email attachment, along with a 150 word abstract. The author's mailing address, e-mail address, and professional affiliation should accompany the manuscript. All articles are subject to peer-review by the editorial board. There is no payment for any articles published.

Referencing Style
References should be compiled in the University of Chicago Style, amalgamated and signalled serially in the text of the article by superscripts. The references should be typed as footnotes. For books, citations should give the author, the title of the book (italicised), the editor(s) or translator(s) (if applicable), city, publisher and date of publication, and the appropriate page number(s) or volume and page number(s) if applicable. For periodicals, citations should include the author's name, title of the article (in quotations), the title of the periodical (italicised), issue information (volume, issue number, date), and the relevant page number(s). Quotations should be in single quotes. Substantial quotations (four lines or more) should be indented and single-spaced without quotation marks. For all other questions of reference and style, refer to The Chicago Manual of Style, 14th edition. Spelling and punctuation should defer to British convention.
